| VISITS THE CHARITY: REAL ACTION |
On the 27th of March 2008 a 14 year old boy was killed by a 16 year old boy on the Mozart Estate. Mozart Estate
has had a troubled history, that is why Real Action set up the Butterfly Saturday Morning (reading and writing) School nearby
in 1999.
About fourteen years ago Mozart Estate and the surrounding area was labelled as one of the most troubled areas
in the UK. In eleven years the Butterfly School has already had the effect of increasing literacy standards
significantly in the area.
The D.C.S.F website page - compares the literacy figures for Queen's Park Ward from 1997 to 2007.
(Final figures for 2007) show that 80 per cent of 11 year olds reached the required standard in English up from 63 per
cent in 1997.

YOUR OPINION
Many people believe that increasing the standards of literacy in some deprived areas in London can
help in the fight against the increasing trend of youth-on-youth violent crime and youth anti-social
behaviour.
