WOOD & VALE (weekly newspaper):
"On a visist to a Queen's Park language school, shadow education minister Michael Gove pledged his support
for the revolutionary charity.
Real Action, which celebrated its 10th birthday this year, has helped thousands of people from deprived
backgrounds learn English.
The Butterfly Saturday reading school teaches 150 (plus) children aged between five and twelve to read through
the unique (Butterfly) method which teaches through phonics.
It is... a very structured way of teaching - and the results speak for themselves... The children on average
achieve a 13-month improvement in their reading age after 30 hours of teaching.
Mr Gove praised the excellent work of the innovative charity (Real Action)...
Speaking at the charity's home on Mozart Street he said: "It is fantastic for the children's self
esteem and confidence to learn to read so quickly"...
"Developing a love of reading is crucial and it must be a pleasure for children to read... The Butterfly
reading group's excellent results
working with kids from a range of backgrounds and nationalities shows how, with innovative methods, real,
tangible improvements in our children's education can be achieved"... "

THE FINANCIAL TIMES:
"....Classes are organised by an educational charity called Real Action.....
The school's success, for both children and adults, has been astonishing...... They include a highly structured syllabus
centred around phonics and grammar, and whole class teaching with the students facing the teacher at all times. The charity's
reputation has spread by word of mouth and there is a long waiting-list of potential pupils. If it were to
advertise, there would undoubtedly be an overwhelming response - which Real Action, with its current resources, couldn't possibly
handle. What the people running it need is more funding so that they can extend their activities to other parts of the country..."

"Fri Aug 17 - Julia Biel
Real Action's Jazz Night at Cobden Club, W10.
Superb folky singer-songwriter-a cross between Rickie Lee Jones, Billie Holiday and Bjork - who performs
jazzy, folksy strikingly original acoustic material and whose self-produced and financed debut album, 'Not Alone' received
rave reviews."
